Longhorns Saskatoon Trip Recap

The Longhorns have returned from a successful weekend in Saskatoon where players got to showcase their talent in front of ten different college programs, in hopes of garnering interest to further their playing careers. The showcase portion went well, as players ran 60’s and took BP under the watchful eyes of scouts and a portable Trackman machine which captures every metric you can measure from a batted ball. The Longhorns went two and two on the weekend with a 17-13 victory over the Prairie Selects team, a 6-1 loss to the Parkland Twins, a 4-1 victory over the host team Saskatoon Berries and finished the trip with a loss to the Prairie Selects. Standout performances for the Longhorns on the weekend belonged to Seniors Cashe Kropinak, who picked up multiple hits in every game but one and started the final game of the weekend on the mound, Kohlman Blackmore was a catalyst at the top of lineup next to Junior Tristan Koehler who combined for eight runs and nine hits in four games. Saturday night’s game against the host Berries was the highlight of the weekend where senior Cooper Norsworthy threw four innings of no hit baseball, punching out nine berries while only allowing two walks. His performance was followed up by freshman Brady Oberg who threw two innings of relief, giving up one run and two hits. Senior Nolan Honess earned the Longhorns first save of the season allowing zero runs on one hit and one free pass in the 4-1 victory.
