Josh Burgmann - Program Director
Josh was born and raised in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Burgmann attended the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball from 2013-2016. Josh played on the Canadian Junior National from 2014-2016. During his time with the Junior National Team he traveled to Florida, Australia, Dominican Republic and he also represented Canada in 2015 at the U18 Baseball World Cup in Osaka, Japan. In the fall of 2015, Josh signed to play D1 baseball for the University of Washington who compete in the PAC-12 conference. Josh was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 30th round in 2016. He decided to attend the University of Washington instead of signing with the Cardinals. Josh attended the University of Washington from 2016-2019. Josh missed the majority of his freshman season at UW due to having Tommy John surgery. He returned halfway through his sophomore year when UW went on a run all the way to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. UW’s appearance in the 2018 College World Series was the first appearance in the program’s 100 year history. In 2019, Josh was selected to the Golden Spikes watch list at the halfway point in UW’s season. At the end of his 2019 year, Josh was selected in the 5th round to the Chicago Cubs. Josh played short season A ball in Eugene for the duration of the 2019 season. Covid shut down the entire minor league baseball system in 2020. Josh unfortunately ran into injuries during the 2021 and early in the 2022 season, which eventually led to Josh’s decision to retire from baseball. Burgmann has always had a passion for coaching and helping athletes grow and learn both on and off the field. He started helping coach at Vauxhall while he spent the offseason’s training at the Academy. After he retired from playing in the early part of 2022 he started coaching at Vauxhall full time and then spent the 2023 season coaching at the VAB as well. Josh currently is the Pitching Coach for the Bulls and PBA. Josh and his wife, Taylor, currently live and reside in Lethbridge and are loving life here in “The Windy City”.
Carlin Dick - Head Coach
Carlin grew up in the Fraser Valley, on the south side of Abbotsford, British Columbia where he played all his minor baseball and a few seasons with the British Columbia Premier Baseball Leagues’ (BCPBL) Abbotsford Cardinals. He then attended the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball from 2018-2020. After he graduated he received a scholarship to NCAA Division 1, Canisius University in Buffalo, New York. Where he played four years at Canisius where he was named to the All – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rookie team in 2021 as an outfielder, won a MAAC Championship in 2022, and was named All – MAAC Second team Utility Player in 2024. He was apart of the 2021 Lethbridge Bulls WCBL Championship team and was a member of the Bulls from 2021-2024. Carlin has a Bachelors of Science degree in Health and Wellness. Carlin has a passion for coaching and brings a very recent wealth of baseball knowledge that he is eager to share.
Michael Schwab - Assistant Coach
Michael grew up in Prince George, BC where he played minor baseball and won three provincial titles with the Prince George Knights and represented BC on numerous occasions on the diamond. After graduating high school, Michael played three years at Prairie Baseball Academy as a middle infielder.
He spent one year on the JV team and his last two on the Varsity squad. He recently received his Bachelor’s Degree’s in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Lethbridge with plans to go for his master’s afterwards.
Tim Blake - Assistant Coach
Coach Blake grew up in North Vancouver and has been in the game a long time. Blake has coached many teams including the Abbotsford Cardinals of BC’s Premier Baseball League as well as many successful minor baseball teams. He has coached numerous pros and college athletes and has a great understanding of the next level. Blake is pivotal in teaching the intricacies of the game. Tim brings an incredible amount of experience to the program and is always open to learning new things.
Jaxon Filipenko - Assistant Coach
Jaxon grew up in Lethbridge Alberta where he played Little League and American Legion baseball. Winning 6 Provincial championships and 1 National championship with the Southwest all-stars, Jaxon grew a true passion for the game. In his senior year of high school Jaxon moved out to Vauxhall to play for the Vauxhall Jets Baseball Academy. Following his graduation year of high school, he went down south to play 1 year of college baseball with The Williston State Tetons in North Dakota as a Pitcher.
Jaxon has spent the past 2 summers coaching the Lethbridge Lakers American Legion baseball team primarily as the pitching coach. After winning a provincial championship in the first season as a coach he knew he wanted to help players improve and better knowledge of themselves on and off the field around the game of baseball. He is currently enrolled in a combined degree of Kinesiology Education and Psychology at the University of Lethbridge.
